2019 Convention Committee Invites You to Register Today

Atlanta is synonymous with Social Justice and Civil Rights history and education, and it's about so much more! We will explore the many faces of Atlanta including being a leader in music and arts when we gather June 23-27, 2019 at the Westin Buckhead Atlanta.

During the convention, we will gather as colleagues and friends to study with scholars and peers who can take the idea of Tikkun Olam and help us put it into action and we will also have the opportunity to learn and grow as Jewish clergy and musical professionals. We will learn the history of Atlanta and its role the Civil Rights Movement, focusing on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and The Temple Bombing. We will explore how to better dialogue with those whom we do not always agree and how we as Reform Jews can help move the needle on Pay Equity. Those who are interested in "all things organ" will have an opportunity to visit the AE Schlueter Pipe Organ Company as well as play The Temple's celebrated Fifty Rank Aeolian Skinner Pipe Organ, one of 12 in the country to merit a signature plate from its rebuilder, G. Donald Harrison. We will talk about technology for synagogue professionals, the role of choirs within religious communities, retirement planning, and hear new compositions from Transcontinental Music Publications. The new ACC Officer Team will be installed as we thank and celebrate the outgoing team. We will have our business sessions that represent the business of the Conference and the Guild.

We are excited to see how this convention is shaping up to be one of our most exciting gatherings! Our scholars, Rabbi Jonah Pesner from the Religious Action Center and Dr. Gregory Ellison from Emory University will lead us in hands-on sessions that will provide us tools and experiences to take home with us. In addition to our Social Action programming, there will be visits to some important sites in Atlanta, opportunities for us to sing and learn together, and other surprises, all mixed with our Southern hospitality.

We will have the opportunity to visit the Center for Civil and Human Rights where we will learn about the American Civil Rights Movement and its significance for the progress of Human Rights across the world. Once in downtown Atlanta, we'll explore other area attractions and restaurants.

Our hotel, the Westin Buckhead, is in the beautiful Buckhead neighborhood. Easily accessible by MARTA (the train from the airport) or the highway. Right across the street from the Lenox Mall, there are many restaurant and shopping opportunities in the neighborhood. If you're coming to town early, join your colleagues for dinner and a bourbon tasting at Southern Art & Bourbon by celebrity chef, Art Smith.

Early Bird Rates are in effect until February 28, 2019. After that, all rates will increase. As always, financial assistance is available. Please visit the convention web page to download the form and apply.

We look forward to your joining us for a fabulous convention this Summer! This event is open to members in good standing of the ACC and GTM.
