In the cycle of our year, even as we count our way through the Omer to Shavuot, we already begin our big-picture thinking for the High Holy Days. Before we are immersed in the details of liturgy, sermons, and music, let’s take time to consider some big questions: What do our congregants want out of High Holy Day worship? What do we—their clergy—want? What is our vision for the worship and for the members of our community as a new year begins? How can we craft a High Holy Day experience to reach our goals? In this session, we will gain inspiration to tackle these and other questions.

Cantor Rosalie Will is the first cantor of Chicago Sinai Congregation in Chicago, Illinois. She mentors clergy in the field and consults on issues of worship, music, and synagogue transition and change. Rosalie is founder, former executive director, and program director of Sing Unto God. Rosalie also serves as lead consultant for the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) on issues related to music and worship.

Rabbi Adam Stock Spilker is the senior rabbi of Mount Zion in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Cantor Jennifer Strauss-Klein is co-cantor of Mount Zion in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
