We all work within civic systems, from the smallest subcommittee to the Federal government. We will study some core Jewish practices and texts as we explore how they can dramatically improve the health of our systems, strengthen our communities, and help rebuild American Democracy.
Rabbi Michael Holzman is the senior rabbi of Northern Virginia Hebrew Congregation in Reston, Virginia. He founded and leads the American Scripture Project which uses Jewish texts and congregational practices to foster civic dialogue and counter polarization and faith250, a project to bring communities together over the next year to read key American texts and envision a celebration for America’s 250th that embodies the truth of these words.
Cantor Susan Caro is the cantor of Northern Virginia Hebrew Congregation in Reston, Virginia. Susan has created rituals to enhance the work and learning of the congregation in the areas of civic responsibility and rebuilding democracy.
