Crafting Meaningful B-Mitzvahs for Students with Diverse Learning Needs

Presented by the ACC   Lead by expert staff at Gateways: Access to Jewish Education

This session equips clergy with practical tools to help students with diverse support needs prepare meaningfully for their B’nei Mitzvah. Participants will explore how to personalize the process for each learner by adapting materials, utilizing alternative methods for teaching Hebrew, Torah, and prayer, and keeping the experience rooted in joy, growth, and engagement. Emphasizing the journey of learning rather than the service itself, the workshop introduces concrete techniques for supporting neurodivergent learners. Clergy will also consider ways to strengthen family partnerships and ensure an empowering path toward B’nei Mitzvah leading to a strong sense of Jewish communal belonging and a lasting connection to Jewish life.
