Information on Sharing a Piece of Music
Though the last few months have undoubtedly been strange ones, we are still doing our best to create an online ACC/GTM convention for the end of June. Among other worthy events, we will hold an online composer’s workshop, which I will host.
In an ideal situation, we could have all sorts of pieces, but this time around, we will have to scale things back a bit. The event will be held as a Zoom conference, and ideally, each piece will be presented by each composer as a previously recorded item. If that’s not possible, then a composer could perform his or her piece live, over the ‘Net, as a solo work, with their own accompaniment.
Time is of the essence. With less than a month to go before the actual event, I will need composers to contact me online to suggest the piece they’d like to present. People will be chosen on a first-come, first-serve basis, so do let me know right away.
The workshop will be an hour and 45 minutes, and I hope we’ll be able to hear (and briefly explain/discuss) a total of 15 pieces. With that in mind, each chosen composer will have a limit of 6 minutes to play/perform their piece, as well as to introduce it or comment on it. We can’t stretch things out longer, so if someone goes overtime, I will have to cut them off. I wish it could be otherwise, but I want to make sure we each get enough time to present our works.
To contact me, please send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, telling me what you’d like to present, and we’ll plan things out over the next couple of weeks. Please feel free to ask any questions you have.
Looking forward to hearing some great new material!
