CCPD Program: Leading and Living in a Time of Toxic Polarization With Cantor Susan Caro and Rabbi Rachel Schmelkin
Are you concerned about polarization in your personal or communal life? How do identities and group norms drive polarization? How can we grow in our own abilities to listen to multiple perspectives and work with others across divides? Rabbi Rachel Schmelkin from the One America Movement will teach about the science of polarization and the ways in which our perceptions of division are often different from reality. Cantor Susan Caro of Northern Virginia Hebrew Congregation will share about her synagogue’s innovative program called the Rebuilding Democracy Project, and how she has used music, ritual, and sacred text to facilitate and deepen open and honest conversations amongst members within the complexities of Jewish communal life.
