ACC-CCAR-URJ Joint Program: Clergy REDI Series
Save the dates for this four-part program
January 25, February 8, February 22, and March 8, 2022
12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. EST
Moral Voices: Enabling white clergy to acknowledge their positional power and use their moral voices to address oppression inside our Jewish communities
For those of us who are white Jews, the deep, sacred work of looking within ourselves and our communities to better understand how we can be both oppressed and oppressor is essential. Together, we will explore the ways we are affected by antisemitism and consider how we benefit from the same systems of oppression we are trying to dismantle. This program will deepen our commitment to and our capacity for leveraging our position as white antiracists and support the work of creating multiracial, multicultural communities where Jews of all backgrounds can experience belonging.
Together, we will:
- Better understand our own identities as white Jews
- Learn how to recognize the invisibility of “whiteness” (including patriarchal, heteronormative, Puritan/Christian values)
- Understand how to disrupt our daily acts of “whiteness”
- Work toward creating communities of belonging
Foundational 4-Part Series
- The program will kick off with a 4-part series for white clergy. Each session will be approximately 1.5 hours. Sessions will build on each other, so attendance at all four sessions is required.
Spring 2022 Speaker Series
Following the foundational 4-part series in Spring 2022, join us for more opportunities to hear from high profile REDI and Social Justice leaders about strengthening antiracism and justice within our work.
Brickner Fellowship
For those participating in both the 4-part series and the 2022 Speaker series, the Brickner Fellowship provides even deeper learning, reflecting, and coaching with peers. Clergy will join an ongoing cohort and engage in small group conversations. Each small group will have a dedicated facilitator to provide support and guidance as learning becomes action.
The RAC is using a pay-what-you-can model for participation in the Brickner Fellowship to make this program available to all who wish to participate.
This program is open to members-in-good standing of the ACC and CCAR. Coordinated by the Union for Reform Judaism and Religious Action Center
