It may also be helpful for Placement candidates to read the materials that have been prepared to assist congregations during the Placement process. These materials are available under Placement/Congregations.
To apply to enter Placement, please do the following:
1. Download and complete the Cantor's Application to enter Placement.
2. Email a copy of your resume to Cantor Barbara Ostfeld at bjostfeld@accantors.org for review and approval.
3. Once your resume is approved, send an electronic copy of your completed Placement Application and an electronic copy of your approved resume (must be in either MSWord or pdf format) to the Placement Office placement@accantors.org.
4. Also, send a check for the Placement fee to the ACC Office at 1305 Remington Road, Suite D, Schaumburg, Illinois 60173-4820. Make the check payable to: American Conference of Cantors. The Placement fee for full-time or limited service positions is currently $250. The fee for High Holiday Placement is $125.
5. After carefully reading the Placement Tips for Cantors, mail a copy of your demo CD to Cantor Ostfeld at 58 Silver Thorne Drive, Williamsville, NY 14221. Once she has approved it, prepare multiple copies of the CD and have them ready to send to congregations when requested.
Please remember that in order to be eligible for Placement, you must be a member in good standing of the ACC. ACC membership dues must be current, and you must be in full compliance with the ACC's Code of Ethics.
Also, cantors who are currently under contract with a congregation must be in the last year of their contractual commitment or have a letter of permission from the president of their current congregation in order to enter Placement.
For other requirements, please consult the Placement Procedures of the Joint Cantorial Placement Commission.
